A Virginia owl, which was in critical condition, was brought to veterinarian Douglas Podgeki, who managed to restore its health and set it back on wing. Later, Douglas had to leave on business temporarily, but when he returned to the sanctuary a few months later, the owl immediately flew to him and hugged him with its wings.
Douglas Podgeki is renowned as one of the leading volunteer ornithologist veterinarians at the Mississippi center.
He has been dubbed the «Bird Whisperer,» a title he truly deserves because he not only has profound knowledge about birds but also has the ability to establish trust with them.
An owl named Gigi, a young Virginia owl, was brought into the center in extremely poor condition. There was little hope for her recovery, but Douglas managed to do the incredible—he helped the owl relearn to fly.
