The infant remained healthy and alive thanks to an unusual heroine. During winter, the parents left their baby outside, where he had little chance of surviving the freezing temperatures. However, thanks to a cat named Dasha, the baby didn’t even catch a cold.
Dasha has thick, long fur and is homeless, often seen roaming the streets of Obninsk.
- As usual, the cat was wandering around when she unexpectedly heard a noise coming from a box on the roadside.
- Curious, Dasha decided to investigate.
Inside, she found a three-month-old baby who had been abandoned by his parents in the box during winter. Since Dasha cannot speak, what she did next was incredible.
The cat jumped into the box, snuggled tightly to the child to warm him up, and began to meow very loudly.
A local resident discovered the baby and Dasha, whom she had been feeding regularly.
«She’s usually very calm, quiet, and friendly, so when I heard her meowing, I thought she might be hurt,» the woman explained. «Dasha always comes to greet me. I was shocked to find her in the box with a baby. Apparently, her maternal instincts kicked in, and she wanted to protect the child. The baby was wearing a hat, and whoever left him there had also placed some diapers and baby food next to him.»
The baby was taken to the hospital, where he was thoroughly examined and found to be in perfect health.
Doctors said that thanks to Dasha, the baby was fine and had only been outside for a few hours.
The identity of the boy’s parents, who left him in the cold, has not yet been determined. Meanwhile, Dasha remains a street cat, but now everyone considers her a real heroine and rewards her with various treats.
