It’s generally advised not to take baby squirrels from the forest, as adult squirrels often have a chance to find their lost offspring.
However, in this particular instance, there was no other option: national park rangers brought in baby squirrels that had been left in the underbrush.
It’s suspected these squirrels were attempted to be raised as pets, but the task proved too challenging for the person, who decided to return the little ones to the forest. Nevertheless, the baby squirrels needed to grow, so the rangers decided to entrust them to a cat that had recently had kittens.
- The cat easily accepted the baby squirrels and began to raise them alongside her kittens.
- A camera has been installed on the box where the animals live, constantly recording their behavior.
In a few months, the baby squirrels will grow up and become independent.
They will then simply be taken to the forest and released into the wild.
