A little dog lived under a truck in the cold and offered its paw for a piece of bread

Dimka the little dog was doing his best to survive on the streets. He would offer his paw to passersby who fed him bread as a way of saying thank you. He slept under trucks, and whenever one was about to hit the road, Dimka would hurriedly move his cardboard and the bones he had gnawed clean to another nearby vehicle.

One day, he failed to move in time when a truck started its engine.

Dimka was injured, and there was no one around to care for him or his wounds, so he had to rely solely on himself.

Sasha, one of our volunteers, came across a post about Dimka by chance. He couldn’t understand why, after so much time, there was still no shelter or foster home for the dog. Sasha immediately took Dimka in, even though he already had 40 dogs in his care.

Despite the cramped space, Dimka was happy to no longer be on the streets. He turned out to be incredibly kind and cheerful, staying close to Sasha and showing his gratitude in every way he could. Dimka loved being petted and would offer his paw in thanks for any attention given to him.

  • Sasha quickly grew to love his new charge, but not all the animals in his care felt the same about Dimka: “Some of my dogs haven’t accepted him. They all try to hurt him.
  • I worry that the bigger dogs might drag him into the enclosure,” Sasha shared with me.

By the time I met Dimka, I decided to try and help him. Ideally, placing Dimka in a pet boarding facility would be perfect, but a vet check was essential beforehand.

At the clinic, Dimka charmed every staff member and volunteer present. This little guy is clever, sociable, and his eyes beam with so much kindness and happiness that it’s impossible to resist him. He responds to any attention with a smile. Dimka is small and well-behaved, making him the perfect companion who could easily adapt to living in an apartment.
